My family was preparing to use our Weber Genesis II BBQ grill on our back deck, and turned the heat on high to preheat the grill. We left the lid closed. Went inside to prepare the meat, and a few minutes later the entire grill was on fire. We reported this to Weber, and they told us that the grill “must” not have been cleaned. In fact, we had cleaned the grill recently. I’m a 43 year-old and I’ve been grilling for 20+ years. I know how to clean a grill as I’ve owned quite a few in my life. I’ve NEVER had such a scary incident happen. I believe that Weber has created a product that is unreasonably difficult to keep clean and/or easily catches on fire even when mostly clean.
