I used The Laundress detergents to wash face masks, pillow cases and delicates from 2021 until November 2022. I had no significant history of infections, and no history of antibiotic resistance. In August and December 2021 I was hospitalized due to cellulitis and administered IV antibiotics. Between June 2021 and November 2022 I suffered recurrent infections on my face and chest. I rarely went more than 8 weeks without having to start taking antibiotics due to a recurrence. I consulted with dermatologists, immunologists and an infectious disease doctor — none could find a physical reason to explain the infections. Cultures showed that the infections were neither caused by MRSA nor Strep, but they did not respond to antibiotics so I was prescribed multiple types for extended periods. My doctors feared that I would develop sepsis. I had biopsies, open wounds, and now have scars.
