This is for the NordicTrack 50 Lb iSelect Adjustable Dumbbells (Model #: NTSAW23020.0 Serial #: PP830F1000052). This is a weight-adjustable dumbbell set use for weight exercises, such as arm exercises, chest and back rows, squats, etc. By turning a knob after the dumbbells are placed on the base, the motorized mechanism is able to add/remove weight plates to the dumbbell, thereby making the weight adjustable. The key moving part is a sliding lock on the dumbbell that slides in and out. The farther the lock slides out, the more weight plates it locks onto the dumbbell. After about two months of usage, the sliding lock started to get misaligned. After turning the knob to set it to a desired weight, the sliding lock would move to its position, but the misalignment causes the sliding lock to fail to latch onto the last weight plate. As a result, after picking up the dumbbell, the last weight plate falls off on its own – sometimes immediately, sometimes after I start to use the dumbbells in an exercise. The weight plates have fallen onto my body, so far with no serious injury (scratches and bruises), but if the dumbbell were to be positioned above my face or head for an exercise and the weight were to fall off, it could easily break a nose, injure an eye, break a jaw or cause a concussion. The weight plates have also damaged my floor from falling onto the hardwood. If the weight plate were to fall off while standing upright, it could easily break a toe as well. Most recently, the entire sliding lock has come loose from the dumbbell and all the weights have fallen off.
