This report is for the Nanit video baby monitor and floor stand. The camera plugs into the stand with 2 metal prongs. It is advertised as a portable/mobile solution, designed to easily be removed and placed in other locations for travel. The system has been in use for less than 4 months and the camera has been removed from the stand only a handful of times. Data from the camera app can verify that it has been disconnected and moved very few times.
A few days ago, my spouse was removing the camera from the stand as per the instructions and one of the small metal prongs broke off. No injuries occurred as the prong wound up inside the camera housing. However, this prong could have easily fallen into our infant’s crib. It is about half an inch long and poses a choking risk.
