My 4 month old baby was using his MAM Mini air pacifier (for ages 0-6 months) like usual when he suddenly started screaming in pain. I quickly noticed the pacifier was lodged sideways in his mouth, locking his jaw in place. We have used MAM pacifiers since he was born and haven’t had an issue until now. What has changed is that he has started grabbing the pacifier in the days leading up to this incident, as he is now developing better hand-eye coordination. While trying to grab his pacifier he managed to move it sideways allowing half of the exterior hard plastic of the pacifier to fit into his mouth and it became lodged sideways between his gums, locking his jaw in the open position. It was even hard for me to remove it from his gums and get it out of his mouth. It took a while to calm him down afterwards. This happened 2 times within a 24 hour period. They are now in the garbage. It was horrifying! I just looked this up online and saw other parents have shared similar stories and I’m wondering why this is still on the market!
