We have a Kitchenaid refrigerator (model # KBFN402ESS02) that has had consistent issues with the door in the 3 years we have lived in our house. In February, the door fell off the hinge while I was opening it. I was able to catch the door without causing injury or damage. Luckily my 3 or 5 year old was not opening the door, it would have crushed them. KitchenAid did nothing different but the same fix they had done 3x before. The same thing happened to several of my neighbors, [REDACTED] & [REDACTED]. We have had the doors fixed 4x since purchasing the fridge 3years ago by certified KitchenAid tech. There is clearly a design flaw with this fridge. Kitchenaid has not taken accountability and blames our children for “abuse” by opening the doors. However, no where on the WARNING LABEL does it say to not have children open the doors. I also went through the entire manual and there was no mention of limiting the door movement or only opening past 90 degrees to avoid potential injury.
