The consumer’s wife turned on her double oven to self-clean for four hours however two hours into it the top oven’s broiler element caught fire and melted. The consumer turned off the unit.
The consumer contacted the Manufacturer and explained the situation; the representative he spoke scheduled for a Service Technician to inspect the oven. Upon inspection, the consumer was informed that nothing could be done as the unit was out of warranty.
The consumer states that both ovens are used approximately twice per week, and that this was the third time that the self-cleaning feature had ever been used. The top oven is no longer usable.
The consumer plans on keeping his double oven for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.
