We have owned a very expensive ($3,500) Samsung refrigerator (Model: RF24FSEDBSR) for just over 6 years.
The refrigerator shows that it is set at 34 degrees Fahrenheit. My children drink milk every morning, and they started to complain about the bad taste.
I smelled the milk and it had gone rotten. Curios, I put a thermometer in the fridge and it is only reading 43 degrees Fahrenheit.
Samsung apparently is aware that these refrigerators have issues with the coils freezing, and now they have caused the potential for my children and myself and wife to contract foodborne illnesses. I had nausea, diareah, and vomiting from eating some of the leftovers in the refrigerator.
According to the USDA:
“Bacteria grow most rapidly in the range of temperatures between 40 and 140 °F, the “Danger Zone,” some doubling in number in as little as 20 minutes. A refrigerator set at 40 °F or below will protect most foods.” (site: https://www.fsis.usda.gov/food-safety/safe-food-handling-and-preparation/food-safety-basics/refrigeration#5).
The sad part is, Samsung is STILL selling this fridge and others just like it, with KNOWN issues on their websites and through many distributors.
This product and many other Samsung refrigerators should be recalled, and consumers be refunded their money.
