The subject product is a 2022 E-Z-Go golf cart (LSV) manufactured by Textron. It’s design is such that a sharp piece of steel steel injured a passenger’s leg upon existing. This occurred twice on different dates. This steel is part of the structure that attaches the seat belts to the LSV. The present injuries were painful but nto severe. However, if a minor accident were to occur rear passengers legs would be jammed into the sharp steel fixtures.

(10/4/2022) TEXTRON INC.: We have reviewed this complaint. The Liberty is not manufactured as and LSV, and is not equipped with seat belts from the factory. It is built as a PTV - Personal Transport Vehicle to ANSI Z-135. The seat belts were added by the dealership, and it was modified into an LSV by the dealership or the consumer. The seat belt kit used by the dealership was not designed specificlly for the Liberty, it was designed for a standard 2-passenger golf cart, as a somewhat universal type kit. However, we believe that this kit can be appropriately installed on an E-Z-GO Liberty PTV, and avoid the issue as noted in this complaint. The seat belt bracket should be installed with the retractor/buckle tabs pointed toward the front of the vehicle, as shown in the installation instructions, PF12499. A copy of these instructions has been attached to the Related Files on this complaint. Our customer care group has been requested to contact the dealership and request that they correct the installation on this vehicle to address this issue.
